Whatever the reason, Kleber seized the opportunity, and like Finney-Smith, who was signed one year prior, he systematically earned more minutes and a bigger role on the team. At some point in the last three years, I’ve wanted all three of Kleber, Powell, and Finney-Smith traded, multiple times. But they proved they were capable of more than I thought, and probably more NBA Sweatpants than you thought, too.

Yes, Luka carried this team to shore most nights, like a massively talented tide lifting all ships, but these role players did their job and more until they just couldn’t anymore.
