Vision

To promote the highest quality and most cost effective standard of healthcare for all persons in Southern Africa infected and affected by HIV
 
Mission

The Society aims:
  To support and advise on the promotion and implementation of the highest standards of healthcare to populations in Southern Africa infected and affected by HIV
  To promote the highest quality clinical care for people living with HIV
  To provide support, training, mentoring and advice to practitioners working in the field of HIV
 
Objectives
  To establish “best practice” standards in the provision of HIV healthcare
  To represent the professional interests of medical practitioners working in the field of HIV
  To support continuing HIV related education, training and professional development programmes for medical practitioners
  To work in partnership with other professional bodies, at local, regional and international level, to provide support and training to all practitioners working in the field of HIV
  To compile and update peer group and internationally reviewed clinical guidelines for use in Southern Africa.
  To maintain a database of professional and committed service providers in the field – particularly those working in inadequately resourced areas and communities – to facilitate access to care and information
  The production and distribution of the quarterly publication - The Southern African Journal of HIV Medicine
